Chats We’re Having With Our Students & Families

Curious what it’s actually like to work with us? Below you’ll find some of the most common conversations we have with students and their families—about what a college consultant does, when to start, how often we meet, and whether this is really worth it.

These chats are designed to answer real questions, ease stress on both sides of the table, and help you decide if this kind of support feels like the right fit for you.

Think of a college consultant as your personal guide through the college process, someone in your corner who knows how admissions really works and actually takes the time to get to know you.

We help you explore schools you may not have considered, figure out what you want both inside and outside the classroom, and make sense of all the choices ahead. You don’t have to have it all figured out that’s literally what we’re here for.

College admissions can feel overwhelming fast. Deadlines pile up, decisions feel high stakes, and suddenly everyone has an opinion. A college consultant helps cut through the noise.

We help you stay organized, set goals that matter to you, manage stress, and keep moving forward even when things feel intense or confusing.

And just as important? The relationship. This process works best when we genuinely connect. Expertise matters, but so does energy, trust, and being able to laugh a little along the way. We get to know you first to make sure we’re the right fit because this is a team effort.

Pretty much everyone.

College consultants aren’t just for Ivy League hopefuls. We work with artists, athletes, high achievers, students with learning differences, and students who honestly aren’t sure what’s next yet.

Our goal isn’t just “getting in.” It’s helping you figure out what you want, understand your strengths, and find a college where you’ll grow, belong, and actually enjoy your experience.

Whenever you’re ready.

Some students start as early as freshman year to make thoughtful choices about classes, activities, and summer experiences. Others come to us later and want to move fast and that’s totally okay too.

Everyone’s timeline looks different. We offer flexible and condensed programs so no matter when you start, you can still make meaningful progress.

We intentionally keep our client list small so you get real attention, not a cookie cutter experience.

Sam works with a maximum of 20 students per class, focusing deeply on individual clients. Kelly caps her class at 10 students while also leading our public school counseling program.

Keeping things small allows us to truly know your story, your goals, and your challenges, and support you in a way that actually makes a difference.

Life is busy. We get it.

We offer flexible scheduling and meet primarily on Zoom, so you can join from anywhere. If you’re in Louisville, in person meetings are also an option. Just grab a time that works on our open calendar—we’ll take it from there.

When you land at a college that fits you, everything feels different. You’re more likely to feel connected, stay engaged, do well academically, and enjoy the experience. When the fit isn’t right, it can mean wasted time, money, and frustration. That’s why finding the right match matters so much. At Cprep, we focus on helping you find your best fit college—academically, socially, and personally. We also help students pursue merit scholarships and maximize opportunities. Over and over, we see how this investment pays off long after college decisions are made.
